Beat the heat this summer with a healthy and delicious ice cream alternative! This fun activity involves making a colorful fruit cone using fresh summer fruits and a small waffle cone. It’s not only a tasty treat but also a fantastic way for your child to practice measurement and fine motor skills while learning about local produce.
Place each type of fruit into its own small bowl. Cut any larger fruits into small pieces to ensure they fit into the waffle cone easily.
Show your child the measuring cup and point out the scale markings for 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, and 3/4 cups. This is a great opportunity to talk about measurements and quantities.
Have your child measure 1/2 cup of the first fruit, 1/3 cup of the second fruit, and 1/4 cup of the third fruit, and add each to the large bowl. Gently stir the fruits together.
If desired, add a scoop of the healthy frozen dessert to the bottom of the waffle cone.
Hold the waffle cone while your child uses the tablespoon to carefully add the mixed fruit from the bowl into the cone.
Top the fruit cone with a garnish of your choice, such as coconut, granola, nuts, honey, edible flowers, or fresh herbs.
Find your favorite outdoor spot and enjoy this refreshing summer treat together!
This delightful fruit cone is not only a fun and interactive way to enjoy a summer snack but also a perfect way to introduce your child to healthy eating habits.
