Father's Day Shorts Surprise

Looking for a fun and goofy craft to celebrate Father's Day? Here’s a fantastic idea to make Dad feel special and give your kindergartener a chance to practice reading and spelling. Help your child create a unique "card" that Dad can wear with pride!
What You Need:
- A pair of plain cotton jersey athletic shorts in Dad’s size
- A matching plain T-shirt
- Iron-on alphabet letters in any color (available at a fabric or craft store)
- An iron and ironing board
- A plain sheet of paper
What You Do:
- Start by asking your kindergartener what special message they would like to write to Dad to show how much they love him. While “I love you” is always a classic, be prepared for some delightful and creative alternatives!
- Write out the message together on a sheet of paper. This helps your child see the words and get familiar with the spelling.
- Lay out the iron-on letters on a table and help your child spell out the message. This is a great way to practice letter recognition and spelling.
- T-shirts have two sides, so you can get creative and decorate both the front and back if you like. For the shorts, you can decorate the front, or go extra silly and add a fun message on the back!
- Arrange the letters on the fabric to fit the space nicely. Adjust as needed to make sure everything looks perfect.
- Follow the manufacturer’s directions to iron the letters onto the shorts and T-shirt. Be sure to supervise closely, as the iron can get very hot.
When you’re done, you’ll have a wonderful, personalized gift that Dad will cherish and proudly wear, showing everyone how much he is loved!
